Brief History

As a parish priest of Kothavalasa, VEPADA (1982) Fr Xavier Dias began his contacts of villages in and around. Sompuram and Vepada were the villages very often visited and attended by Fr Xavier Dias. All most all the people irrespective of caste became interested in Fr. Xavier Dias which paved the way to Fr. Dias to baptize the people from all castes prevailing then. Thus Fr. Xavier Dias stands as the founder of Vepada Mission. A small house was bought in 1940. It was in 1942 a plot of land was acquired and a shed was erected. Fr. Dias began to stay at Vepada to cater to the spiritual needs of the faithful and continued to contact the villages from there since 1943. It was in the year 1964 the church was built during the time of Fr. Jacob Arayathinal. For a long time Vepada was a substation of S.Kota. 1982 it was erected as an independent parish with Fr. Luckose Kallakat as the first Parish Priest.
