Brief History

His Grace Archbishop K Mariadas erected Gangavaram as a parish on the 27th February, 1999, bifurcating it from the existing parishes of Yanam, Mandapeta, Draksharama. This division is made to facilitate the priests, who are having so many villages to look after, so that they may pay more attention to the faithful in their spiritual needs. The Presbytery and the Church were blessed and consecrated on 6th April, 2000 in the presence of Mgr. Bruno Kersing, Vicar General of Paderborn, Germany.
